As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect every aspect of our lives, we affirm cultural resilience and the need to always look towards the horizon, to keep creating and embracing new ideas. In our first issue created entirely via digital communication, we take readers on both sides of the “corona curtain”, with a look at what was happening in Cairo, Dhaka and Dubai before the shutters came down, and then at how works by artists such as Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Cao Fei and Chloe Wise speak to the here and now. We also ask art leaders how they see the brave new world shaping up as we all get used to our new normal and explore new ways of creation on social media.
