This autumn, the art market’s stars aligned and a flurry of exhibitions, auctions and fairs kick-started the art season. Collectors and art enthusiasts alike flocked to Frieze and to the 12th edition of the Istanbul Biennial. Back in Dubai, Louis Vuitton launched their debut Art Talks, Christie’s brought highlights from the legendary Elizabeth Taylor jewellery collection and Dubai’s Alserkal has been the go-to place for collective exhibition openings. We also met a pioneer of Arab abstraction, Saloua Raouda Choucair, and took a look at the London group show of Lebanese artists, Subtitled: with Narratives from Lebanon. A special feature this issue takes a look at artists who collect while the museum section highlights the Brooklyn Museum and the gallery section the Istanbul-based Rampa gallery. Profiles include Abdulnasser Gharem, Selma Gürbüz, Huda Lufti and Steve Sabella.
