In tribute to Iran and with hopes for harmony, tolerance and peace for its people, this issue features a limited edition cover showcasing Farhad Moshiri’s ‘Tree of Iran’, a work commissioned by art patron and collector Farbod Dowlatshahi. Our second cover highlights the work of Hussein Madi who we speak to at length in this issue. As Abu Dhabi launches its Authority for Cuture and Hertiage Platform, Venice once again hosts its Biennale – the oldest and most reputed worldwide – where artist Emiry Jacir looks at the historical relationships between the Italian city and the Arab world. In addition, we fly to Art Basel for the fair’s 40th edition where Mona Hatoum’s works graced much of the first floor. Readers can also find out more about Lebanon’s Silk Museum, the works of Egyptian Gazbia Sirry, Algerian Mahjoub Ben Bella and Turkish jewellry maestro Sevan Bıçakçı.
