Collector and author Judith Greer shares with us her strongly held feelings on how important it is for dialogue and communication to take place between all those committed to art, regardless of background and geographical location. The arts scene in the Gulf and wider Middle East continues to flourish and we welcome the second edition of the annual ArtParis-Abu Dhabi fair as well as the inaugural Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Programme by Canvas. This month also sees the opening of Qatar’s new Museum of Islamic Art and of Cuadro gallery in Dubai. Further afield, Canvas hosts a discussion panel in Berlin and Miami following the success of Basel this summer. Our covers this issue are in memory of Yousef Zarour and we remind our readers of the beautiful icons created in the Levant, which are featured here.
