Issue 12-1

2016

Middle Eastern Art has continued to be diverse, thought-provoking and powerful despite our world being increasingly riven by political and religious extremism and conflict. But even art and culture has taken a real battering in the last twelve months, from the devastating attack on Tunis’s Bardo Museum to the deliberate destruction of hallowed sites of antiquity such as Nimrud and Palmyra. For this issue we have invited several guest contributors to share their views on recent events. As usual, we also review the past year’s art fairs, auctions, major exhibitions and awards and take a look at current publishing trends.
