Setting the scene for Ramadan, this issue features Bahrain’s Beit Al Qur’an with insights from founder Dr. Abdul Latif Jassim Kanoo and Islamic Art treasures at the Louvre. While in Bahrain, Canvas also meets with art patron Shaikha Mai Mohammed Al-Khalifa who focuses on cultural heritage. Artists featured include Iranian artist Farhad Moshiri (whose collection of colourful pots is shown on the cover), Zurich-based Jordanian artist Nabil Shehadeh, Lebanese artist Rana Raouda and photographer Souheil Semaan. We also break new ground by introducing jewellery with Nilufer Tarzi Kuran and having the priviledge of including Edward Dolman, CEO of Christie’s International as contributor.
