We look back at Art Dubai’s third edition as well as a first-time Sotheby’s Doha sale and a Sotheby’s sale of Contemporary Turkish art in London. In the spirit of art fairs and auctions, we discuss how to invest in art in current times in our artsmart section. Overseas, in Miami we speak to Gary Nader (the world’s biggest collector of Latin American art) and stop by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. In addition Galerist, one of Turkey’s leading contemporary art galleries, invites us to their current exhibition and in Spain we experience Islamic Mirror by Anish Kapoor (shown on this cover) at the Sharq Al-Andalus Hall of the Santa Clara Museum. Two timeless Iranian artists of the Diaspora are also featured – Nicky Nodjoumi and YZ Kami – and Egyptian artist Khaled Hafez plays on the similarities and parallels between Ancient Egyptian gods and Batman in a manner that really does leave one wondering.
