We dedicate the current issue to the Signs of Our Time as we witness arts and culture flourishing across the wider Middle East. This includes the recent 21,39 where there was an exciting sense of urgency to the art scene this time as well as ancillary events including Ahmed Mater’s groundbreaking show and Athr Gallery’s superb group exhibition The Clocks Are Striking Thirteen. In the UAE, we look forward to the upcoming 12th edition of Art Dubai, enjoy the shows at the newly opened Louvre Abu Dhabi, visit Lawrie Shabibi’s gallery takeover by Gallery 1957 from Ghana, Timo Nasseri’s retrospective as well as various new residency programmes. These art initiatives are emblematic of what’s happening across the region at large, where Darat Al Funun celebrates its 30th anniversary in Jordan and India reinvigorated its art fair.
